The Software Patent Architect (patent engineer) is responsible for understanding invention disclosures in their technical area, constructing and conducting search strategies, and completing search reports.

While not a lawyer, the ideal Software Patent Architect still possesses a keen understanding of the patent application process and is capable of providing administrative and engineering support to work through the patent application process as efficiently as possible.

This employee has the necessary technical understanding of invention disclosure, and is able to identify where patentable developments are feasible.

As a Software Patent Architect, you will be responsible for patenting Docler's software-related, innovative solutions.

 

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Working closely with product development teams
  • Reviewing business and technical specifications
  • Reviewing system level software designs (architectural, infrastructural, workflow diagrams)
  • Identifying unique solutions (structures, processes) eligible for patenting
  • Creating patent specifications (architecture, flow-charts, description of routines, sub-routines)
  • Writing patent applications
  • Following development and patenting lifecycles, workflows, and processes
  • Providing support related to patenting and possible litigations
  • Complying with technical standards, conventions, policies, and procedures
  • Any other tasks assigned by the direct line manager or management

Requirements

Work experience

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years programming experience
  • 5+ years of experience at Docler after probation period or equivalent references (References that involve working with high availability and traffic services for the same amount of time at other companies

Personal competences, language skills

  • Experience with patent specifications, and the patent application/litigation process
  • Experience with multiple technologies: PHP, NodeJS, MySQL, MSSQL, MongoDB, Memcached, Redis, RabbitMQ, FMS, Wowza
  • Experience with e-commerce and live streaming
  • Experience with software for desktop and mobile platforms
  • Knowledge of architectural patterns and experience with UML diagrams
  • Analytic thinking and advanced problem solving skills
  • Ability to overview and understand complex systems, and experience with reverse-engineering
  • Upper intermediate English knowledge (B2) or higher
